I like to make stuff and things.

’m Matthew Walsh. I am a furniture maker, instructor, and believer that how you do one thing, is how you do everything.

My work revolves around three words: Purpose. Patience. Precision. You can’t be precise without patience, and you wont find the patience required without purpose. That sequence guides how I build, teach, and live.

I teach fine furniture making at Rosewood Studio and build under Hailfellow Furniture. A name drawn from an old phrase meaning a trusted friend. To me, good furniture should feel honest, useful, and built to last.

Outside the shop, I’m usually on the property with my wife, Claire. We purchased a real fixer-upper nestled in a hardwood forest (it’s our dream and i’m not complaining) and my spare time consists of fixing things, or thinking about fixing things. This space is where I share what I’m learning about craft, teaching, and living with intention, one careful cut at a time.
